Sejarah Singkat Komunitas PIJ Pakel
Komunitas Pakel merupakan Komunitas kedua yang didirikan di wilayah Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta setelah Komunitas Sentul, tepatnya di Jalan Batikan 7 Yogyakarta. Tahun 1967 masuk di Komunitas Sentul, Sr Yosefa Cornelia sebagai Provisial. Karena Sentul rumah terlalu kecil untuk para Suster maka berusaha mencari tanah yang agak luas mendapat di Jln. Kaliurang km7,5. Setelah di konsulkan dengan Bapak Kardinal Darmoyuwono tidak diizinkan karena dekat dengan Seminari Projo Kentungan, dekat dengan para frater. Ditunjukkan oleh Bapak Kardinal di Paroki Bintaran di Pakel tempatnya, waktu itu masih rawa, sawah-sawah, dan tanah milik kraton, kitab oleh memakai/ hak pakai dari Sri Sultan.
Tahun 1996 Pakel mulai diurus surat perjanjian, mulai menggali pondasi.
Tahun 1973 sudah mulai menempati komunitas.
Ada beberapa alasan komunitas Pakel Yogyakarta didirikan:
- Kota Yogyakarta Merupakan tempat yang subur bagi benih-benih panggilan untuk menjadi biarawan-biarawati.
- Kota Yogyakarta merupakan kpta pelajar. Maka komunitas Pakel semula menjadi rumah studi bagi para Suster Sang Timu yang mendapat tugas studi.

- Lokasi berada di kota
- Wilayah Kerajaan-DIY: Daerah Istimewah Yogyakarta
- Gubernur/yang memerintah adalah seorang raja (Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono ke X)- tinggal di Kesultanan Kraton. Wakil berdomisili di Pakualaman.
- Dikenal dengan kota budaya: Sekaten, Ramayana, tari-tarian tradisional
- Kerajianan: Batik, gerabah/tanah liat, bambu, patung-patung.
- DIY sebagai kota pelajar (UGM, SADAR,UNY,FTW,UKDW, ASMI,BETESDHA DLL).
- Ada beberapa rumah Pendidikan calon imam dan calon suster (seminari tinggi, novisiat dan postulant).
- Banyak kota wisata: pantai, candi, keraton dll.
- Monument Yogyakarta
- Kebun Binatang Gembiraloka
- Pantai Glagah, Baron, Parang Tritis, Kukup, Pantai Panjang
- Tempat Ziarah Seperti Guah Maria dan Patung Hati Kudus Ganjuran
- Candi sepeti Prambanan, Candi Boko, Candi Sari dan Candi Borobudur.
