Sejarah Singkat Komunitas Jedong
Komunitas Sang Timur Jedong sekaligus Rumah Retret Khalwat Bethlehem didirikan pada tanggal 15 Desember 2004. Berlokasi di Desa Jedong, Kec.Wagir, Kab. Malang di bawah pengawasan Bapak Ir. Agung Suryanto. Pembangunan Rumah Retret Khalwat Bethlehem dilaksanakan secara bertahap, mulai dari gedung Maria (kamar tidur), gedung Lazarus (kamar tidur), dan gedung Dominikus (aula) serta area Camping Ground. Pada tanggal 16 Januari 2006, gedung-gedung di atas diberkati oleh Romo Agustinus Sukaryono CM selaku Romo Paroki St. Vincentius a Paulo, Langsep, Malang.
Dengan berjalannya waktu, ternyata masih banyak hal yang dibutuhkan, maka diusahakan membangun gedung Clara Fey yang digunakan untuk kamar dan ruang makan. Gedung Clara Fey diberkati oleh Romo Ponticelli CM, pada tanggal 8 Mei 2009. Kemudian dibangun pula Gua Maria sebagai tempat berdoa bagi para peziarah. Pemberkatan Gua Maria dilaksanakan pada tanggal 2 Januari 2009 oleh Mgr. Herman Yosep Pandoyo Putra O.Carm (Uskup Malang).
Tujuan Khalwat Bethlehem dibangun adalah sebagai tempat untuk menimba kekuatan dan oase rohani serta penyegaran bagi mereka yang datang untuk melepas kepenatan dalam kesibukan sehari-hari. Khalwat Bethlehem memberi pelayanan bagi siapa saja yang membutuhkan terutama bagi anak-anak, remaja dan kaum muda lewat kegiatan-kegiatan rohani atau pengembangan kepribadian.
Dari tahun ke tahun, Khalwat Bethlehem, mencoba memperkembangkan dalam pelayanan dan penambahan sarana serta fasilitas agar para tamu yang datang dan pengguna semakin dapat merasakan kehadiran dan kasih Tuhan lewat alam dan sarana-sarana yang ada. Pada tahun 2016 dibangun sarana Bukit Doa, gua Makam Yesus, ruang Adorasi dan jalan Salib panjang. Kemudian pada tahun 2018 selesai juga dibangun gua kelahiran Yesus (Gua Bintang Betlehem), yang dilengkapi dengan sarana patung-patung episode Perjanjian Baru. Pembangunan dan penambahan sarana-sarana rohani melengkapi peziarahan rohani bagi para tamu yang datang ke Khalwat Bethlehem. Hal-hal yang tersebut di atas dapat terwujud karena melalui kasih dan berkat Tuhan lewat pemerhati dan donatur yang mengulurkan kasih mereka baik secara spiritual maupun material.
Semoga karya para suster PIJ, dalam pelayanan di Khalwat Bethlehem semakin banyak orang terbantu untuk mensyukuri atas kurnia kehidupan dan penyelenggaraan Tuhan serta semakin mencintai dan mentaati segala kehendak-Nya dalam semangat kasih persaudaraan, kegembiraan dan kesederhanaan. Semoga nama Tuhan semakin dimuliakan dan kasih-Nya selalu menyertai kita sampai selama-lamanya. Amin, Terima Kasih.
